Community Run for Charity on
An Active Runway
An Active Runway
Overview
The Mayor’s 5K on the 5th Runway is a unique charity run co-hosted by Hartsfield-Jackson, the Mayor’s office, and United Way—held right on an active runway under strict safety protocols. This one-day event mobilized the community to raise funds for local causes while spotlighting ATL as a civic partner.
My Role & Contributions
Event Branding & Collateral: Developed the 5K logo, color palette, and graphic system—applied to invitations, posters, and digital banners.
Apparel & Merchandise: Designed cost-efficient two-color T-shirts for participants and staff to distinguish roles on course day.
Wayfinding & Signage Plan: Created a comprehensive signage system for check-in, route markers, start/finish lines, sponsor activations, parking zones, and medical tents—optimized for daylight and runway lighting conditions.
Race Materials: Laid out bibs, badges, and medals (with the medal design inspiring the overall branding), and introduced translucent leucite awards for age-group winners alongside traditional trophies.
Production Management: Managed event wayfinding installation, on-site setup/tear-down logistics, and contractor coordination to meet FAA safety requirements.
Video & Photo Coordination: Art-directed photo coverage and provided motion/still graphics for post-race highlight videos.
